Simon Rubey was born and raised in New York City. Through a few influential and brilliant teachers he found a love of acting. He worked in the industry briefly, mainly participating in stage acting at conservatory and summer theatre for ten years. In college he majored in writing and became a gymnastics coach at a YMCA where he had previously trained in the sport, happily remaining a coach for ten years. In 2020 he began his graduate studies in Educational Theatre. In the summer of 2021 he began to teach the art of acting at a summer camp on Long Island. That fall he began teaching drama, among other subjects, at a school in Harlem, later moving to a middle school in the South Bronx. Teaching remains his most rewarding work.

Every student has something to offer the theatre classroom, or any classroom for that matter. With the proper approach and understanding of our students, their success can surpass our wildest expectations. Every class, if directed properly, can and will take on its own inertia, becoming a well oiled machine where each player is utilized naturally to achieve their fullest potential, as the class becomes ensemble.
